Queer As Folk was designed to shock from the very first episode on late night ch4. But these DVDS are absolutely the best money you would ever spend on a drama. Yes its about the lives and loves of a group of gay friends in Manchester, and it is set around their partying on Canal Street, but it doesn't matter whether you're Gay/Straight/Lesbian/Bisexual/Human/alien, this drama can appeal to anyone, simply because it is well written, well acted and has some fantastic music as its soundtrack. There are a few down to earth with a bump moments which is true to any life, but watch out for some classic side splitting moments. This is the best thing Ive watched in years...and it will take something good to knock this off top spot. Seriously worth investing in these dvds...Then see what you've been missing!!!.

After being a fan of the UK version I decided to give the much raved about American show ago, and I can honestky say that I was dreading it, thinking that they would cast an unbelievable and sanitised brush over it.....and what can I say?? I was wrong and I'm not afraid to admit it, the characters are given depth the stories are well written and moving and each actor performs at the highest level.
The first season ended with the heart breaking scenes of a gay bashing and it was hard to see how the writers could keep producing such intense storylines without being too over the top, but there are episodes which are so beautifully acted and produced that I can't possibly think of a main stream drama that has the same effect or beauty to it.
Yes there is same sex scenes in abundance, but to just assume that this is all that Queer of Folk is about would be a crime,
It's about time that this highly rated series is available to a more worldwide audience
